Mars Rover

Brandon and I went on a mini vacation which was actually a school trip. We traveled down to Hanksville, Utah with the BYU Mars Rover team for the University Rover Challenge. Brandon is part of the science team with the rover. His job was to find life on mars which he did. Well he found life in Hanksville, which is on Earth but it looks like Mars and is just as hard to find life there. Because of the Mars similarities to Hanksville, the Mars Society has an observatory there in the desert wasteland. Scientists who want to do Mars research can come for two weeks and live as if they were to live on Mars. Everything is set up as if the scientists were really living on Mars; they even have spacesuits to wear if they venture outside.

This year's competition had ten teams from all over the world come to compete with their rovers. There were four tasks that the rover had to perform. The team has to sit behind a tent and watch the rover through the camera mounted on the rover for all the tasks. The first task the rover participant in was a maintenance check. The rover drove out to the task site and had to perform simple tasks, such as flipping light switches and cleaning solar panels. The second task the rover had to collect a soil sample from beneath the surface to be analysed for traces of life. This is where Brandon came in. There is a picture of him in action in an article written by the Salt Lake Tribune. I provided a link below to the gallery.

The third task was terrain navigation. The rover had to go through an obstacle course created by the judges. The last task was astronaut assistance. This one was really fun to watch. We had to locate four different astronauts and drop a package with a three foot radius for them. I got to follow the rover around and watch it as it looked for the astronauts, judged the distance, and delivered the package.

The trip was great. It was so fun to see the competition. BYU placed third overall. I loved being apart of the team, even though I had no knowledge to contribute. But hey, now I can say I've been to Mars....well sort of.

Mother's Day = Second Birthday

Brandon is so sweet to me. Honestly, I don't understand what I ever did to deserve him. I am so blessed.

I'm not a mother, and when mother's day came around Brandon and I decided we weren't going to do presents for mother's day or father's day. But that didn't stop Brandon from treating me like a queen. He made me a delicious meal of chicken and potatoes. He constantly listed reasons why he appreciates me. I don't know how I ever lived before without him.

When I thought the day was done, Brandon walked into the room with a plate of rice crispy treats he had made special for me. :) Mother's day definitely was a second birthday for me. I am so grateful that I have a husband that cares so much for me. His constant kindness inspires me to better. Maybe someday I will be able to make him as happy as he makes me.

Hermana Johnson

So every once and  a while I get to see people I know at work. These people are usually missionaries. I am so grateful that I worked at MTC while my best friend and soul sister Hermana Johnson was there. It was so good to see her almost every day, even if just for five minutes. Not going to lie; I'm a little jealous that she is out there serving the Lord and I'm not, but I wouldn't trade my life right now for anything. I'm so happy for her and her decision to serve. I know she will be an amazing missionary because of her love for people. I'm so lucky to be her friend!

Love this girl!

The best song ever I just discovered!

This song makes me feel really good about myself. But I'm laughing the whole time I listen to it. So glad my name is Rebecca. I might make Brandon learn this song to sing to me whenever I'm upset. lol

Hello and Welcome

Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I always thought blogging was something married people or crafty people did. Now that I've been married for 6 months I realized that's not true. As a married woman I don't feel much different than I did when I was single. I mean my life is different don't get me wrong, but I still enjoy the same things. Anyways I figured this is as good as a time as ever to start a blog.

Honestly, this blog is going to be filled with my musings, thoughts, and experiences. I will always be writing about my wonderful husband, Brandon. Who is the inspiration for my blog title Forever Llewellyn and my rock. I am so grateful he made me a Llewellyn by asking me to be his wife and taking my hand in marriage. I love working with him everyday to make our marriage work, so it can last forever.

I'm excited to tell the whole world what I think without really telling anyone. Who knows maybe throughout my ramblings I will say something of value to someone out there and influence their life for good. Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comment. I would love to hear from you. Thanks and I hope you enjoy my blog.
